First Post! - An Introduction

Well hello! As a first blog post, let us at Ella introduce ourselves to you. I'm Sam, and I'll be keeping you updated on the weddings and experiences we at Ella will have from here on out. Jonah and I are super excited to be launching Ella, after working as a solo videographer for years, I could not be more ecstatic to have joined forces with Jonah in taking wedding cinema to the next level.

Personally, I have always sought to capture my weddings with the same intensity and emotion as the relationships they portray. I remember one wedding in particular which was key to crafting this vision.

It was Radcliffe and Suzette’s wedding of Summer 2015. The day began beautifully. The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The wedding ceremony was to be held outside, on a beautiful plot of land next to a farm. Suddenly, as the wedding party moved to the ceremony, the sky darkened. Storm clouds and dark skies loomed over us. We all prayedthat it wouldn’t rain, but it sure did. At first we all waited. Nobody minded waiting a little bit for the rain to clear. But the rain kept coming. As the sky went dark and thunder and lightning began to strike, everyone began to realize that this wedding would have to be held inside.

Finally, after moving the ceremony to inside the reception hall, the next worse thing happened; the power went out. Radcliffe and Suzette were left with a rained out wedding ceremony, with air conditioning and lighting long gone.

What happened next was truly inspiring. As they stood together in front of the crowd, Radcliffe took Suzette’s hand, illuminated by the light of iPhone flashlights. In that moment, with the rain pouring and the lights flickering, everything felt alright. Even without the sun and the blue sky, their love was enough to light up the day, and make it one that I will never forget.

Just to let you guys know, we have a few exciting announcements coming in the next few months. Firstly, we will be adding a new cinema camera to our arsenal, the RED Scarlet X. It was a tough decision deciding on which camera to go with, butthe Scarlet won us over with its excellent color science and its beautiful rendition of skin tones.  We are so excited to bring this Hollywood grade piece of equipment to our wedding cinema and can’t wait to put it to use.

Additionally, we have recently explored the world of virtual reality. There is something quite incomparable about being truly immersed in 360 degrees. There is no better way to re-live your ceremony than with Virtual Reality, which is why we are incredibly excited to be introducing it to you.

That’s it for now, thank you so much for checking us out. It’s a very exciting time to be getting married and we can’t wait to get to know you and see you smile on your big day!

All the best,

Sam
